Children talking, laughing, walking about. This is daily life.

The One Way Farm Children's Home is a non-profit organization located in Fairfield, Ohio, caring for the abused, abandoned, neglected, troubled youth, and children with disabilities in the State of Ohio without regard to race, color, sex, or national origin. The One Way Farm Children's Home is state-certified and provides the following services:

• Temporary/emergency housing for abandoned, abused or homeless children, many in need of medication/pharmaceutical administration.
• Meeting the needs of special education children.
• Long-term independent housing.
• Placement of pregnant teens and other children by the Juvenile Courts, Job and Family Services Department, and other placing agencies.
• An alternative to institutionalization for mildly troubled children and the mentally and physically challenged.
• Animal Education Therapy Program.

The children of One Way Farm Children's Home are abused, abandoned, neglected, or pregnant and sometimes have other disabilities. One Way Farm Children's Home tries to reunite child and family whenever possible and coordinates family counseling if it is indicated. The One Way Farm Children's Home's primary objective is to break the present cycle of abuse or disruption and help every child to a normal and fruitful life.

We provide a warm and loving shelter for children who have been abandoned and abused, and troubled, and for pregnant teens. One Way Farm Children's Home houses 20 youth, providing both emergency and long-term housing for children in crisis. Our agency provides Animal Education Therapy to further the healing of our children, a very unique program. We have served thousands of children since our beginning over 29 years ago. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and are located in Butler County in southwestern Ohio. Our continuing goal is to provide for the best interest of the child.

Judge DAvid Niehaus and Mr. Robert Clevenger, Director of Court Services, stated in a recent letter to Barbara J. Condo:

One Way Farm Children's Home provides a secure, warm and loving environment for our residents who are abused, abandoned, troubled or neglected. We also meet their medical, educational, therapeutic, and housing needs while they heal, including psychiatric services. We care for children from ages 6 to 18 years, and to age 21 for the mentally challenged, regardless of race, religion, color or national origin.

Current programs and activities

• Provide temporary shelter for young people in need of temporary care.
• When providing long-term care and placements, there are many behavior problems to overcome.
• When teaching love by being a model of love that can be secured by ongoing patience.
• One Way Farm Children's Home is a community-based alternative for youths that do not require institutionalization in a secure facility but needs short-term placement or temporary care, therefore, the interaction is of the utmost importance.
• Furnish programs for children who are mentally disabled, have been abused, or have multiple disabilities creating assurance of their safety.
• Provide an Animal Education Therapy Program for children who live at One Way Farm Children's Home.

Abused and neglected children appear to have no sense of security to help them acknowledge and resolve their emotional pain. One Way Farm Children's Home emphasizes a positive approach. Pride in self and in socially appropriate behavior is taught through an extended family unit. The staff and therapist work toward self-sufficiency for each member while using discipline, love and other positive reinforcements.

We want to help children realize there is a tomorrow, and to provide a secure environment where they can address the issues at hand. One Way Farm can begin to nurture an accepting, positive outlook and increased self-esteem, so that each child can feel "I'm okay." We believe that young people's lives and personalities are precious and worth our investment. Every young person, regardless of race, religion, color, gender, national origin, or background has the right to lead a full and satisfying life. Our goal is to provide services that make this possible.

One Way Farm Children's Home can facilitate the participation in active, creative, educational and athletic experiences in order to help children form full minds and bodies. The opportunity for self-discovery enriches their lives. We believe one of our responsibilities is to provide residents with physical and academic sports, games, social recreation, nature and outdoor activities. We must also meet their medical, educational, psychological, and physical needs to prepare them for a healthy and sound adulthood.

During the summer months we plan many day trips and overnight trips for our children. The trips we plan are both recreational and educational. We are in need of tickets and passes to local attractions. We are in the memory-creating business, replacing bad memories with memories for the future.
