Animal Therapy Program
One Way Farm has developed a very unique therapy program for our children. We have incorporated animals into our counseling/therapy program. Just a few years ago this was only a dream, but thanks to many people, including the Greater Cincinnati Homebuilders Association for donating the barn, it has become a reality.
Children who have suffered abuse and neglect are often afraid to touch. Their trust is of great issue. Through the Animal Therapy Program, they can begin to trust and touch again.
Employment Training
The Employment Training Program is intended to provide training for many children to be trained for future employment. Sexually abused children are often quiet and withdrawn. Training them in an environment such as our Barn Sales will help to socialize them. The events of their lives have brought them to crisis, and they need special resources to help them deal with the here and now and prepare them to be productive adults in society. If healing can begin here and now, they have a better chance of dealing with tomorrow's realities.
Training a child, even if he or she has disabilities, can later in life provide them with gainful employment.
Counseling Services
A crisis intervention program allows the children to begin the survival process. Children are placed in care of One Way Children's Home for many needs. Upon request, a child is scheduled for counseling. This begins the process toward healing. If it is needed, we also offer psychiatric evaluations and are able to dispense prescribed medications. An independent Licensed Social Worker meets with the child in our administrative building. We also have a board certified psychiatrist that meets with children on a weekly basis.
The placing agency receives an evaluation of the youth's progress monthly. Problems that arise during their placement are discussed and the agency receives the information so that appropriate responses can be worked into their placement goals.
Summer Youth Program
During the summer months we plan many day trips and overnight trips for our children. The trips we plan are both recreational and educational. We are in need of tickets and passes to local attractions. We are in the memory-creating business, replacing bad memories with memories for the future.
